Morris CEO, Fiona Berkin participated in the CEO CookOff held in Brisbane on March 7 for the second time. Securing the spot with only ten days to raise funds had Fiona a little bit nervous but keen to participate nonetheless. Setting the fundraising target to $5,000 was ambitious with the short time frame and following some strong support, this target was smashed with the total amount raised being $6770.00. Fiona ended up being ranked 6th highest fundraiser at the Brisbane event.
Fiona was on the ‘Vegan’ team under the leadership of Alejandro Cancino of the Urbane Group. The team created vegan dishes including mushroom and tomato bruschetta.
The event raised a record $1.6 million. These funds allow OzHarvest to deliver more than three million meals to Australians in need, expand their nutrition education program, NEST and grow their hospitality training program for disadvantaged youth, Nourish.
